After killing William Dresari and Lord Roland, Ian and all the other resistance leaders meet at the royal palace to celebrate his victory. Jen tells Ian that the People's Council has recognized him as the legitimate duke of Kentares IV. However, Ian is bitter, having lost his entire family. He also confides that he believes that he will not be a good ruler. He pledges to fight House Steiner and drive them out from the Federated Commonwealth. The other leaders support him, and propose a toast to Kentares IV. The scene fades out on the sun of Kentares IV.
